From the days of King George 11 in 1727, the Wyon's served England's monarchs as designers and engravers of royal coinage and seals. The American branch of the Wyon family selected an 1839 coin featuring Sir John Vanbrugh to serve as an identifier of its insurance business. The back of the coin, designed by Alfred Benjamin Wyon, grandfather of Rex Wyon, features an illustration of Blenheim Palace, the 1874 birthplace of Winston Churchill.
